Cloud and Embedded Device Applications for OptimiDoc Cloud

Device applications in OptimiDoc Cloud are manufacturer‑specific applications installed directly on multifunction printers (MFPs). They serve as the user interface for secure authentication, scanning, printing, and document workflow execution—fully integrated with the OptimiDoc Cloud data centres.

These applications transform compatible MFPs into secure, cloud‑connected workflow hubs, providing a unified user experience across different device brands (Kyocera, Fujifilm, Canon, Epson, etc.).

Supported Manufacturers

Although we aim to deliver a consistent user experience across all brands and supported devices, certain models may still behave slightly differently.

Cloud vs Embedded Device Applications

Based on the manufacturer's SDK, we divide the applications into two main types:

Cloud Device Applications	Embedded Device Applications
Devices that use this type of technology typically display application pages generated on the data‑centre side. This approach enables rapid updates to the user interface and functionality, as any changes can be applied simply by updating the data centre. However, the possibilities for creating custom functionalities are usually more limited compared with fully embedded device applications.	Devices equipped with embedded application capabilities allow the entire application to be developed and executed locally on the device. Most of these SDKs are based on Java or Android platforms. The main difference is that each application must be installed directly on the device, and any new version requires reinstallation. However, such technologies offer far greater opportunities for customisation and on‑device processing, enabling deeper integration and more advanced functionality than server‑dependent approaches.
